Biography
Dr. Mark S. Dockstator

Dr. Mark S. Dockstator is a status Indian and a member of the Onyota’a:ka (Oneida) Nation of the Thames. His mother is from the Six Nations reserve and his father is from the Onyota’a:ka Nation of the Thames.

Dr. Dockstator is currently a professor of Indigenous Studies at Trent University, located in Peterborough, Ontario. Professor Dockstator received his doctorate in law from Osgoode Hall Law School, with his dissertation entitled “Toward an Understanding of Aboriginal Self Government.” Dr. Dockstator currently teaches in the areas of Indigenous Knowledge, Indigenous Politics and has a specialty in Aboriginal Governance and Indigenous Economic Development.

Prior to teaching at Trent University, Dr. Dockstator owned and operated a number of businesses in Ontario, in addition to being involved with the development of Casino Rama with the Mnjikaning First Nation. Professor Dockstator currently operates a consulting company that specializes in Aboriginal-based research and has been involved in a number of major research projects involving First Nation issues.
